This picture, "Kitten Vanity", originally started out as a still life.   I wanted to practice drawing various textures (cloth, glass, wood, etc.).  I had trouble finding all of the items I wanted for the still life, so I decided to use the 3D modeling program trueSpace to create virtual models.  I used trueSpace to create simple models of the table, chair, fish bowl, etc.  I then rendered the simple scene and used the result to help get the shadows, refractions and reflections correct in the final picture.
